Regarding The Country and The City:
Raymond Williams and Richard Hoggart were two Brits I encountered in
graduate school and was impressed by their working class values.
I feel
to this day that the American clerisy was hell bent on joining the Ivies
in their avoidance of working class realities.
Our current political
stasis mainly derives from this trahison des clercs.
